Getting Around

CSCW Bus Schedule

Workshops: Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10th – shuttle bus service shuttle bus service at 7:30 and 8:30 am

Conference: Monday, Nov. 11 through Nov. 13th – shuttle bus services shuttle bus service at 7:30 and 8:30 am

Shuttles take approximately 1 hour to make a loop from the hotel to the convention center and return for the next group of attendees.

At the Wyndham hotel, There is also a walking bridge available for attendees to use during daylight hours, lighting is limited, and it is advisable to not walk after dark.

Attendees are also welcome to secure their own transportation through Taxi, Uber or Didi

Ride-to-Order (Uber, Didi). The best and cheapest way to move to and from the Convention Center is by using ridesharing apps. From the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belén, a ride could cost around $4-$10, and from the Wyndham San Jose Herradura Hotel $2.5-$5. Also if you are going to the city center, this would be the best way to get there.

Red cabs are the official taxi services in the country, but they tend to be more expensive than ride-sharing apps. Please ask at your hotel or the Convention Center to call these services.

Walking. Walking is also an option if you stay at the Wyndham San Jose Herradura Hotel. A 20-minute walk would take you to and from the convention center. You must use a pedestrian bridge to cross the main road in front of the convention center. It is advisable to use this way of moving during the day. However, the area could be with low lights during the night.

From the Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belén, walking is not advisable as it could take up to 1 hour to get to the convention center and the roads are pretty complex to be crossed safely. However, if you like to walk this is also an option during the day. The convention center’s only access is through a busy highway. Therefore, walking in and out could be complicated.

Here, you will find a handy list of nearby restaurants if you want to eat outside the convention center.

Also, please remember that Costa Rica is in its rainy season, so umbrellas, rainy jackets, waterproof shoes, and proper clothing are always encouraged. Because of its proximity to the Equator, the sun will show up almost always a bit before 6 am and it will be dark before 6 pm.
