November 3rd-7th, 2018 : New York City's Hudson River (Jersey City)
Traveling to CSCW 2018

Air Travel

The New York City metro area is served by three major airports. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is located 12 miles from the conference venue, and is the recommended airport. A cab from EWR to the Hyatt costs $46 (there is also a credit card surcharge and additional fees for pieces of large baggage). Transportation to the Hyatt is also available via a combination of NJ Transit and PATH trains. To travel via train, follow signs for the AirTrain at EWR, and take it to the Newark Liberty International Airport Station. From the Newark Airport Station, take NJ Transit (towards New York City) to Newark Penn Station. Finally, take PATH (towards World Trade Center) to Exchange Place, which is located next to the hotel. The ride is about an hour in total and will cost $8.50 for a NJ Transit Ticket and $2.75 for a PATH ride.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) also serve the metro area, but traveling from JFK and LGA to the conference venue is significantly more difficult and time consuming.

Rail Travel

The conference venue is located about 30 minutes from three major metro area train stations.

To reach the Hyatt from New York Penn Station (served by Amtrak, NJ Transit, LIRR, and NYC Subway) take the E line of the NYC Subway to the World Trade Center. Then take the PATH (towards Newark) to Exchange Place, which is located next to the hotel. The total ride costs $2.75 for a NYC Subway ride and $2.75 for a PATH ride.

To reach the Hyatt from Grand Central Terminal (served by Metro-North and NYC Subway) take the 4 or 5 line of the NYC Subway to Fulton St. Then take the PATH (towards Newark) to Exchange Place, which is located next to the hotel. The total ride costs $2.75 for a NYC Subway ride and $2.75 for a PATH ride.

To reach the Hyatt from Newark Penn Station (served by Amtrak, NJ Transit, and PATH) take PATH (towards World Trade Center) to Exchange Place, which is located next to the hotel. The ride costs $2.75.

Getting Around

The Hyatt Regency is a short walk to the Exchange Place PATH Station with frequent trains running directly across the Hudson to the World Trade Center site.

The PATH also runs further north in Manhattan which makes connecting to the MTA subway trains like the 4,5,6 and A, C, E quite effortless. The nearby ferry terminal, Paulus Hook, offers rides to Wall Street, the World Financial Center, and Midtown (W 39th). From the Hyatt Regency, taking public transportation, you can get to the Financial District in less than 15 minutes, or to Times Square in about 30 minutes. Getting to the Whitney Museum and the New Museum also takes about 30 minutes, and the Empire State Building is 35 minutes away. You can get to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the Upper East side and other Museum Mile attractions in less than an hour, again, all on public transport.
