Great panels are an excellent way to generate debate, raise new and interesting issues at CSCW, and hear multiple points of view on a topic. CSCW panels are a forum for discussing provocative, controversial, innovative, emerging, boundary-spanning, and boundary-breaking issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">A panel is <em>not<\/em> a series of presentations. A high quality panel devotes the bulk of its time to interaction between the discussants and possibly the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Unlike paper sessions which provide detailed discussions of recently completed work, panels provide an opportunity to hear about what is on the horizon\u2014or what is already here but not yet recognized, acknowledged, or discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TOPICS\"><\/span><strong>TOPICS<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We are open to all topics that will stimulate thoughtful discussion relevant to CSCW practitioners and scholars. We are gathering your input on other topics that might be of CSCW community\u2019s interests, to potentially help connect researchers who might be interested in similar topics. Please suggest any topics or ideas that you want to see in CSCW Panel sessions through the following form: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSewAo026YbMDpw2pCF_P9VuPqFWLQ-GFPLZwOKE-4CKdxrgUA\/viewform?usp=sf_link\">https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSewAo026YbMDpw2pCF_P9VuPqFWLQ-GFPLZwOKE-4CKdxrgUA\/viewform?usp=sf_link<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CRITERIA-FOR-SUCCESSFUL-PANELS\"><\/span><strong>CRITERIA FOR SUCCESSFUL PANELS<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The best panels provide opportunities for audience participation. We especially encourage proposals for panels that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul data-block-type=\"core\">\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Discuss relevant, important, and critical topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Engage the audience and provoke discussion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Bring several disciplines, methods, or approaches into productive conversation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Represent a diversity of individuals, who can bring multiple perspectives to the topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We also invite submitters to not only form panels with close colleagues who share similar points of view but also to reach out to prospective panelists from across the CSCW community and beyond. We are also interested in panels that include representation from practitioners, activists, and scholars from other fields that may provide additional insight into the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"POTENTIAL-FORMATS-FOR-2024\"><\/span><strong>POTENTIAL FORMATS FOR 2024<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Most panels will follow an in-person format. In-person panels may have at most one remote presenter. We are exploring the possibility of having virtual panels outside the dates of the main conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"SUBMITTING-A-PROPOSAL\"><\/span><strong>SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Panels proposals must be submitted by the submission deadline and each proposal should include an Extended Abstract submitted as a PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The extended abstract should be a maximum of 5 pages (including references) in the single column ACM Master Article Submission Templates. This is the same template used for full papers and not the former landscape template used for extended abstract submissions at CSCW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Within the 5-page constraint, proposals should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul data-block-type=\"core\">\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Overview of the panel\u2019s topic(s) and its relevance to the CSCW community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Proposed structure and format of the panel, including how panel organizers will:\n<ul data-block-type=\"core\">\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Encourage interaction with the audience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Ensure the panel is accessible to all participants (see<a href=\"https:\/\/accesssigchi.com\/accessible-meetings\/#sessions\"> ACCESS tips for Conference Sessions<\/a> for ensuring accessibility).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">One-paragraph biographical sketches of the panelists including names, affiliations, and describing their expertise related to the panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li data-block-type=\"core\">Any technical requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Panel submissions should be submitted using the Precision Conference System (PCS) 2.0:<a href=\"https:\/\/new.precisionconference.com\/\"> https:\/\/new.precisionconference.com<\/a>.
